Movement come through me

I just learned about choreography Mia Micheals. If I were to create a hierarchy of celebrity dance idols it may look ssomething like this:
1. Twyla Tharp & Pina Bausch
2. Liz Lerman
3.Mia Micheals

Here is a quote from #3
"Allowing movement to come through us in the form of pure energy and onto a highly trained yet raw instrument is what defines the ultimate 'dancer'. One that knows how to pull from technique and also when to leave technique alone and head straight to the heart of the matter. One that knows how to pull the rawness and humaness that would drip from their own personal journey through this world and allows the real movement to come from the inside out...That is beautiful."

Yes, and I hope all have seen that. I hope I have given that...can give that.

Ah, there are so many paths one can take to live their ultimate dream. I can I am.

"You'll find the job that's right for you and be Insanely Happy"

Persistence, patience and practice.
...the three elements I believe will land me the job.
I am auditioning and have been auditioning in full force in 2010. Really, it's not 'if' I'll get a job, but 'when'. As my manager, Bran Hernandez, founder of Khi Talent Management, said to me,

"You'll find the job that is right for you and be insanely happy"
And I will.

What I have learned so far:
  • I have many marketable traits
  • Each audition is organized a titch different
  • I improve immensely with each audition
  • Look amazing, have a stellar headshot and accessible resume
My marketable traits?
  • Height 5'9"
  • Body: long, lean, well proportioned, toned
  • Technique: Strong Ballet, Modern, Jazz, I can improvise, & pick up new styles quickly
  • Look: I'm easy on the eyes
  • College Degree: Modern Dance
Oh and I am so much more! I choreograph, teach to all ages (and love it!), am spirited, positive, am a people person and am just ready to do this.

....Persistance, Patience and Practice....

Reflections on then and now

I will be performing Awaiting, a performance art and sound installation at the Utah State Capitol next Thursday from 6pm - 6am - yes 12 hours! I am excited to have the chance to delve deep into silence, to contemplate the concept of 'waiting' and to connect with a variety of performers.

I was touched by this quote from the director and artist in residence at the University of Utah:

"Waiting is a busy space. So it's alright for dreams to die. Dreams get old on our shelves. Wisdom is the recognition of dated dreams, like withered branches on a tree that must be pruned for new bloom. Let dreams go. It's the dreamer who must live, not the dream. Dream new dreams. The dreamer must survive."
~Ernesto Pujol

The passage is meaningful to me, a constant dreamer and schemer. It allows me to accept the changes in my life and evaluate and let go of past ambition.
